Volleyball Preview: Pioneers Set for Two Conference Road Matches

Lynsey Trusty had a career-high 17 digs in Malone's last match.

The Malone University volleyball team will head back on the road this weekend for two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) matches with the Lake Erie on Friday and Ashland on Saturday.

With 189 career block assists, she is 4 shy of 6th place on Malone's career (records kept since 1995) block assists list. Maczuzak, the Malone athlete of the week, set a career-high with 22 digs in the Pioneers' last match against Alderson Broaddus.

2014 All-GLIAC First Team selection and 2015 GLIAC Player of the Year frontrunner Ali Cudworth leads the Eagles and the GLIAC in kills (365), kills per set (4.20), service aces (51), total points (438.5), and points per set (5.0). Nationally, Cudworth is ranked 6th in kills, 15th in kills per set, 4th in aces, and 7th in points per set.
Outside hitter Casey Clark, last week's GLIAC South Player of the Week, is 2nd on the team with 2.48 kills per set while averaging a team-high 3.08 digs per set.
Middle blocker Samantha Zuber averages 2.25 kills per set and is 2nd on the team with 260.0 total points. She is 7th in the GLIAC with 79 total blocks and 9th with 0.93 blocks per set.
The Eagles are 3rd in the conference in total assists (1024), Setter Mallory Slyder is 4th in total assists (810) and 7th with 9.64 assists per set.
Ashland lost to Malone in four sets last year 25-27, 27-25, 18-25, 16-25.
